2nd Divine Blessing: "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted."

What are the two words that God is wanting everyone to say?

In Matthew 5:4 God says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

In Luke 6:21b God tells us, “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.” In both of these, we understand that there is a direct contrast from living in this world and experiencing God’s kingdom to come. Now, in this world of sinful sorrow, we may have a tough time, but there is a kingdom coming where Jesus, The Lamb of God, “will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away all tears.” (Revelation 7:13-17) This Scripture is talking about those who are arrayed in white robes and the ones who have given their earthly life to Jesus and followed Him, even through death. They will also be with Him in His kingdom to come, “as you have done (while on earth), so it shall be done to you…” (in the kingdom to come—Obadiah 15). Through many tribulations, we will enter the Kingdom of God. (Acts 4:21-22).

What are we to weep over while on earth? Our sinful ways! While there is still time, we have to ask God to forgive our selfish attitudes, ugly comments, and our disrespectful ways. There is coming a time when God will directly intervene to bring salvation to His people and punishment to the rebellious.

What is true repentance? Repent means to completely turn from evil ways and do directly the opposite. I used to be my own boss, but now Jesus is my boss! We need to be self-less, not self-centered. Iniquities, selfishness, or lawlessness is our main sin. Jesus’ first word that He preached was “Repent” (Matthew 4:17). God has laid our selfishness on Jesus. (Isaiah 53:4-6; 1 Peter 2:21-25).
